The famous Henry Clay company has added a real western-style stogie to their heralded portfolio. Henry Clay Rustic Cheroot, rolled just one size, is a 5 5/8 inch by 38 ring gauge vitola with the crude, somewhat unrefined appearance that is typical of this style of cigar. However, in keeping with the brand’s storied Cuban heritage, and unlike most cheroots, this one is crafted with a pigtail cap and closed foot. The Honduran filler in this cigar is made from tobacco leaves called “capa dura”, a rare and very powerful strain, so Dominican and Connecticut broadleaf tobaccos were chosen to balance a blend that is still described by the company as full bodied. This is a real heavy-hitter with deep earthy components, hints of coffee and wood, and a long, spicy finish, better suited to more experienced palates looking for a nice powerful kick from a quick smoking stick.
